Singletary Collection

Four photos of the collection in use: guests mingling at a gathering; Isabella Mellado's painting Three of Cups, of three women dancing on a beach, held up for viewing; Manny smiling beside a blue work by Hope Wang in a gallery; and friends at a dinner table beneath two textured black works by Juliet Russo.

Singletary Collection was founded as the personal art collection of Manny Singletary. He moved to Chicago in 2021, where he started exploring the arts scene as an appreciator and with the desire to meet new people. His most frequented gallery, Heaven Gallery, became his primary space to attend exhibitions and programming. The following year, the collection formally started when he acquired his first work from Heaven Gallery, a mixed media collage by Hope Wang.

Since then, the collection has grown to over 40 works from artists primarily based in Chicago. The thread that ties the collection together is the concept of representing memories and interaction. Each work in the collection represents a time and place, some sort of feeling, or personal history of the founder. He's drawn to abstract works and likes the art to be open to a personal interpretation. He also likes works that incorporate texture, ones where you want to reach out and touch it.
